Here is the concept history starting from FLOATING WORLD from which we extrapolate the development of our research of the relationship between East and West relations in pop arts: FLOATING POP (japanese pop art), take a look to Asia as an emerging power and already dominant on the worldwide's imaginary of fashion, comics, design, as an art influencer, one of more active cultural player, economy development, not only japan therefore, that despite everything, it was the first Asian power, democracy westernized.

Hiroyuki Takahashi

With this "Japan POP art show" an innovative artist combination, we will keep the guidelines of “edo pop”, an art project that i am still forwarding since 2004, it was already started my researching about japanese pop arts since Edo period till the latest artistic trend, taking a look to expanded relationship in art between Eastern and Western pop cultures, massive consumption, advertising and communication.

Ukiyo (浮世 "Floating World") Described the urban lifestyle, Especially the pleasure-seeking aspects, of Edo-period in Japan (1600-1867 Tokugawa period). The "Floating World" culture developed in Yoshiwara, the licensed red-light district of Edo town (modern Tokyo), which was the site of many brothels, chashitsu tea houses, and kabuki theaters frequented by Japan's growing middle class. The ukiyo cultures arose also in other cities Such as Osaka and Kyoto and coming out, beginning of the last century, in Paris .

TOMOKO NAGAO

Here began the first real pop art, is the famous Japanese's woodblock prints well known as ukiyo-e, or "pictures of the Floating World," In These districts, already more than 4 century ago, had began their origins the japanese's pop cultures, first in the world as an affordable art, (long time before of Andy Warhol's pop art) often depicted scenes of the Floating World itself, such as geisha, kabuki actors, sumo wrestlers, samurai, chonin and prostitutes that was same of contemporary pop stars and massive brand icons.

In fact, FLOATING POP is still a worldwide important TREND TODAY: the newest artist, son of this culture, represent mass consumption, leisure and entertainment globalized using a universal language "POP", this was already among the oriental and western culture, sign of begin of today's global marketplace.
